Oktoberfest at Mount Snow is Wunderbar!

There are only a few days left in summer. As the crisp night air begins to bite the tip of the nose and fallen leaves swirl around like tornadoes behind cars on Vermont's back roads, we look forward to one of the Mount Snow Valley's greatest events: Oktoberfest.

The combination of Vermont's mid-October foliage, pleasant weather and the German tradition of beer, food and fun make October 9 and 10th, 2010, a not-to-be-missed occasion.

Most of the Oktoberfest fun is happening at the base area of Mount Snow. Their 13th Annual Oktoberfest and Craft Show has been growing steadily over the years, attracting visitors from all over New England. A live German polka band typically plays on Saturday afternoon under the tent, and more live music and entertainment runs throughout the weekend.

Over a dozen breweries show up, tapping into their fresh autumn lineup of beers. Traditional German food (think lots of sausage and sauerkraut) is always hot and ready.

Don't forget that this is a true family-friendly event. Face painting, pumpkin painting, arts and crafts, a hay pile, apple launching and the now famous "schnitzel toss" will keep the kiddies entertained all weekend.

Of course, the adults will have their fun with the keg toss, one-man saw competition and stein holding contest.

Fall in Vermont -- there's nothing like it. We hope you're around to enjoy the foliage and the spirit of Oktoberfest. And of course if you need a place to stay during the festivities, you can search our short term rentals near Mount Snow. We're in Wilmington, just 10 minutes from Mount Snow.
