Enjoy the restful peace of true quiet, easing muscles you didn’t even realize were tense. It is only ten minutes, at most, to downtown Wilmington with shops, restaurants, and New England small town charm, in spades. Our personal favorite, 1A Coffee, is even closer on the way in to town! Mount Snow is 15 – 20 minutes away for easy access to excellent Vermont skiing. Stratton isn’t too far, either, clocking in at maybe 35 minutes or so. Additionally, we highly recommend exploring Lake Whitingham (also known as Harriman Reservoir). Molly Stark State Park and Hogback Mountain (with lookout views) are in close proximity as well. Bennington and Brattleboro are about a 30 minute drive in opposite directions. Entering the house deposits you into the entryway with plenty of room to hang your coats and kick off your shoes. Conveniently located at the far end of the the entrance, ready to accept dirty clothes, is the full size washer and dryer. Turning the corner opens up into the large, vaulted living room which opens out to the deck and is bathed in light during the day and turns into a cozy cavern at night, perfect for game nights [on the owner made coffee table] or movie marathons. Sink into the sinfully comfortable (if somewhat dubiously colored) couch, super-sized to seat everyone, and you’ll never want to get up! Should you fall asleep take it from someone with experience: the couch is every bit as comfortable as a bed! There is no cable TV (this is a retreat, after all!) but the Roku TV will stream all services. In the morning, avail yourself of the coffee station. Too tired to do anything fancy? Just fire up the Kuerig. Want something a little more involved? Go for the pour over or Aeropress! Not a coffee person? Avail yourself of the large collection of tea in the kitchen. Should you need to access anything on the internet (skiing or hiking trail research?) feel free to plug your laptop into the workstation: monitor, keyboard, and mouse provided for your convenience! Back towards the entrance, the other fork takes you to the dining room and updated kitchen, fully stocked with all the appliances, cookware, dinnerware, and utensils you could possibly need. If you’re feeling formal, the dining room is the perfect area to sit down for a meal. Rounding out the first floor is a large bedroom with a queen sized bed and full bathroom. A litter box is placed out of the way in the bathroom for those of you bringing your furry feline friends! Please do not flush litter down the toilet, though! And, yes, those [admittedly modest] nightstands are also made by the owner, from recycled pallet wood. The second floor is all about sleeping. Three bedrooms contain, in order, a bunk- bed with a full on bottom and twin on top, two extra long twins, and a king size bed with, you guessed it, a home-made bed frame. Additionally, there is a second full bathroom on the upper level. Linens, towels, and sheets are provided. We ask you to clean them only if your furry friend should have an accident on them. There are two full bathrooms, one on the first floor and the other on the second floor, both have a bathtub with shower. The first floor is an open floor plan, kitchen, dining room and living room. The kitchen is fully stocked with plenty of utensils, dishes, pots, pans, dishwasher and a large island with seating. The dining room table has seating for up to 10 and our spacious living room has a gas fireplace, sectional couch and a TV. Also on the first floor is the mud room with a washer and dryer and plenty of space for your skiing or hiking gear. In the lower level, is a family room to spread out or for the kids to play or watch TV. Please note, that the TVs are equipped with Amazon Firesticks, with access to Amazon Prime, Netflix and other apps such as ESPN, Pandora, etc. We do not have local or cable channels on our TVs. There is WIFI throughout the entire house. Vermont is all about being outdoors. Our home has a large deck with a gas grill, a large back yard with access to the Valley View Trail and lots of parking in front of the house. The house also offers access to various hiking trails and the VAST trail system from the Chimney Hill community. Our home is 10 minutes to Main Street in Wilmington, which offers family friendly and upscale restaurants and a variety of shopping. We are 15 minutes to Mt. Snow and 35 minutes to Stratton. We are close to Lake Whitingham (also known as Harriman Reservoir), Molly Stark State Park and Woodford State Park and within 30 minutes of Brattleboro and Bennington! As a rental within Chimney Hill community, you can enjoy the included amenities - ice skating, indoor pool, outdoor pool, gym, hot-tub, clubhouse including playroom, basketball courts, tennis courts and outdoor playground. You will need to bring sheets, towels, and toiletries. Please note, 4-wheel drive is highly recommended in the winter to get up our driveway and around the Chimney Hill community.
